“Hollywood Goes Green” Summit Dec. 8-9 Announces Stellar Speaker Lineup Including Actress Laura Dern for The Organic Center Dinner

Two-day Event to Focus on Helping Hollywood Increase Profits and Lower Costs in Today’s Volatile Economy through Sustainable Innovation and Corporate Responsibility

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–iHollywood Forum, announced its final speaker lineup for the second annual “Hollywood Goes Green” conference held this December 8-9, 2008 at the Hilton Universal in Los Angeles. The high profile conference, addressing environmental issues in entertainment and media, will host more than 40 speakers and exhibitors. The title sponsors include HP and General Motors; the gold sponsor is Sony DADC.

On the second night, Dec. 9, from 6:30-9:30pm, the conference will feature an appearance and remarks by film and TV actress Laura Dern at the “For the Health of Our Children” fundraising dinner. All proceeds will benefit The Organic Center and Healthy Child, Healthy World, both nonprofit associations respectively dedicated to raising awareness about the health benefits of organic food and farming and protecting children from harmful chemical exposures through education and prevention strategies. The dinner will showcase delicious organic food creations featuring signature dishes by top organic chefs.

“GM is pleased to be the title sponsor of Hollywood Goes Green for the second year,” said Dave Barthmuss, Environment & Energy Communications Manager at General Motors. “Our goal is to show the entertainment industry what GM is doing to reinvent the automobile and our company by quickly moving toward all sorts of electrically-driven products. We’re excited to display the Saturn Vue plug-in hybrid, and offer attendees a chance to test drive the new Saturn Vue 2 mode hybrid and the emissions-free, petroleum-free Chevy Equinox electric fuel cell vehicle.

Bathmuss continued: “We hope to influence Hollywood in how it depicts green cars in film and TV, and encourage those making purchasing decisions for personal or business use to consider vehicles that use any kind of available electric technology. This collective effort is necessary to make electric vehicle technology — be it hybrids, plug-in hybrids, fuel cell electrics, and even extended-range electrics like the Chevy Volt - commercially viable so they can be seen on the road in large numbers.”

“HP is also pleased to be a title sponsor of this event. We believe that new data center technologies help media and entertainment companies reach two critical goals, a smaller carbon footprint and reduced energy costs,” said Stephen McKenna, vice president, Communications and Media Solutions, HP. “As part of the HP Eco Solutions program, HP provides its customers with a broad range of solutions that limit environmental impact and improve the bottom line.”

“While celebrities have long been environmental activists, studios and production companies have been cautious about adopting the green philosophy as it applies to their business operations” says Zahava Stroud, President of iHollywood Forum and Conference founder. “Today, during an economic slowdown, implementing sustainable solutions is a necessity within global entertainment business operations to improve profitability. Studios and broadcast networks are committing resources to reducing their carbon footprint across the board in entertainment production, distribution, and marketing.”

As part of the event, iHollywood Forum will publish the second edition of “Hollywood Goes Green” guide with practical guidelines for implementing strategies addressed at the conference. The guide from last year is available as a free PDF download on the Website.
